KeyboardLink is a free application for Windows which brings you the ability to create keyboard and mouse shortcuts fast and easy. This application will work in the shadows; the only visible element is an icon in the system tray. From there is possible to activate/deactivate it, and access the settings dialog from where you can customize its general behavior and key combinations for your shortcuts.
The shortcuts consist of one or two (this is optional) master keys plus an additional key, both of users’ selection. KeyboardLink includes a list of applications for which users can set a shortcut, and another list of 8 blanks that users can use to create shortcuts for other applications, not included in the first list. A downside of the custom list is that it’s not possible to create shortcuts for folders, only applications.
The predefined applications are: Notepad, Calculator, Web Browser (includes IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Netscape), Media Player (includes Win Media Player, Winamp, iTunes and many more), MS Paint, WordPad, Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Access.
In addition, KeyboardLink allows creating shortcuts for common operations with Media Player, such as Play/Pause, Stop, Next/Previous Track, and Volume Up/Down; it also provides shortcuts for common system operations such as Volume Up/Down, Mute, and Empty Recycle Bin, among others.
